Founded in 1865, Mark Liell is a niche surveying practice enabling landowners and developers to maximize their investments in the retail, commercial and residential sectors. The family business asked GQ to rejuvenate their identity to attract a younger, more forward-thinking market. Our research uncovered a family coat of arms that would form the foundation for a more dynamic brand yet uphold the company’s heritage.
We developed a simplified crest with a bold chevron and a rampant lion – traditional elements instilled with a new visual vitality. Their family motto ‘Sedulo et Honeste’ means ‘Diligently and Honestly’ and was adopted within the communications as a fitting counterpart to their traditional values. The success of the branding led to a suite of stationery, signage and a fully responsive website that is partly content managed.
